Brute force versus sense and sensibility.
Goliath versus David.
In my writings I have often referred to the divine intelligence, also the supernatural intelligence, of man.
But now that the word intelligence is being applied to machines, that machines are intelligent, makes the word intelligence, as related to man, no longer applicable, in as much as man’s intelligence defies understanding even by its own intelligence.
Man is more than intelligent so the rise of AI gives me the chance to re-define what has until now been called the intelligence of man.
I had the pleasure of explaining what I called at the time the supernatural intelligence of man in my proposal Homo Infans… The Origin of the Nature and Intelligence of Man… which offers an explanation of the supernatural nature of man’s intelligence. The proposal is available in this think tank.
The big bang was the cast of the die.
The Creator, in whom I believe profoundly on the evidence of all that exists and how it evolved so mindfully, set in motion our creation, I can only think, without telling Himself its outcome, but wherein everything within its nature was possible, although not inevitable, and waited for the outcome, hoping that His creation would result in a being who could relate to Him, could appreciate Him, could glory in the wonder of His works, who would have the ability seek Him out through understanding the nature and unfolding of His creation.
That being turned out to be man. The chances of planet earth’s and man’s appearance are so staggeringly remote that it “baffles all intelligence” and demonstrates above and beyond everything else what one can only call the awesome wonder of creation.
So man is not intelligent, man is much more than intelligent.
Let machines be intelligent, if you like.
Man is omniscient, to what extent relative to the Creator’s omniscience we cannot guess, but man has divine awareness, which allows him to be so acutely intuitive that man is spiritual.
Man has unlimited powers of deduction which arise from combining all of his abilities and senses, thereby giving him a sixth sense able to divine the otherwise unintelligible… to making him spiritual.
This spirituality is what made it possible for Einstein to understand and reveal relativity (Einstein’s apple), which could never have been done using only logic and data, not only could it never have been done but logic and data without human insight would have said that relativity is impossible. It required intuitive observational analytic deduction. It required that sixth sense, that sense of senses, that spirituality which man has, making him omniscient.
I said in the Kaleidopsyche…What makes us the super species is our supernatural power of deduction. This supernatural power comes from our having sixth sense, from being spiritual.
How can we sense that someone is looking at us from directly behind, from where we cannot possibly see that someone even with our peripheral vision, who is looking at us from far away, and even if that someone is in a crowd?
Therein an excellent example of human mental ability, because it shows that man actually is omniscient, actually does have divine awareness, actually is spiritual.
The two definitive events in the rise of man were when he understood he would die and when he created art. Those two events, following on from what I propose in Homo Infans, set man apart from the rest of nature and elevated him to having the nature of the divine.
Man’s mental capacity and spirituality are the sum of at least these factors… understanding, wisdom, perception, insight, intuition inspiration, instinct, sensitivity, guiding emotionality, judgment, conscience, the ability to distinguish between right and wrong (I don’t refer to good and evil here, but that helps too), intuition, experience, genetic memory, in as much as we are the product of millenniums of experiential learning, and the ability to inherently maximize the combining of all our physical and supernatural senses to the extent of having extrasensory senses.
Such mental and spiritual capacity has given man supernatural powers of deduction and infinite learning ability and application.
Such mental and spiritual capacity has made man omniscient, divinely aware.
Humanity has converted the universe into a conscious, self- expressing and independent creation, thereby accomplishing creation’s ultimate intention.
Good luck beating that Artificial Intelligence.
